Courage
A God-sized hole.
In October 2024, I felt compelled to open and read my Bible. A friend’s encouragement to “just read John”—the same suggestion she’d offered the December before—finally stuck. I downloaded the Bible app and listened to John. Three days later, I texted her one question: “Where can I find Abraham?” Her one-word reply: “Genesis.” I thought, “Here we go.” I was hooked.
I realized I couldn’t move forward in my life without God. I had to know Him. I had no idea how enormous the God-sized hole in my life and heart had become—what I now describe as the Void. Trying to move forward without Him felt like walking a tightrope high above the ground, with no safety net. I had tried, and came running back.
I didn’t find Him in church. I first found Him in the Bible. I found Him through fasting and prayer, with an intense desire to know Him and not do life without Him anymore. I read the first five books four times before I could move forward, because I couldn’t look away. It was like being held in a bright light. Parts of me I’d been avoiding were suddenly visible. For months, I walked around wide-eyed, like a deer in the headlights.
My first goal? I WILL know God.
I want to study God—to know His character. Who is He? If I’m a daughter of God, wouldn’t I carry some of His qualities within me, too? What might those qualities be? So I began looking for the similarities.
Looking for those similarities helped me build my self-esteem. I began recognizing qualities within myself that reflected His character. I could see that I was disciplined, resilient, and determined. I knew I was a good person and that my heart was good. Naming those qualities helped me recognize and value what was already within me. It also helped me identify the qualities I wanted to develop. I had a direction for my growth—qualities to hold on to and others to cultivate through daily practice.
As I read my way through the Bible, Proverbs became my favorite book. It felt like a practical guide to the person I wanted to become. My self-directed study gave me room to explore and practice those lessons. I carry them with me as reminders of the qualities I'm cultivating and to keep myself pointed True North.
I also wanted to understand how God offers instruction and correction. My parents died when I was young, and there was so much I had to learn to navigate on my own. Now I was looking to Him as my father. If God is pure love, how does He correct me when I'm off course? How does he help me recognize what needs to change and guide me back into alignment? I wanted to know His character, recognize what we shared, and learn how to bring my heart into alignment with Him and keep it there.
I was alone. And ready not to be.
I would not go through this World without Him anymore.
I had decided.
I didn't know what I was doing, but I would find Him, Know Him, and Live with Him.
My entire life was His.
All of my time went into reading. I found myself highlighting certain phrases or verses, and later I would go back and explore what they revealed about myself. This turned into my own personal Bible study. I have one for each book through Isaiah. Every verse that stuck with me, I went back and performed an act of self-exploration. Each verse I reflected on taught me something about myself or offered a new perspective. A great deal of understanding and healing took place during these studies.
For a short time, I also joined a Bible study with an osteopath and a retired quantum physicist and theologian in Marin, California. But I found that I needed to continue studying on my own. I felt God was guiding me along a deeply personal path.
I was all in.
Be strong and courageous
As I continued to read, I found myself in the book of Joshua. First of all—what a twist. I didn’t see it coming. Moses doesn’t enter the promised land, but Joshua—what?!—his apprentice, receives this divine appointment. Looking back, I should have seen it coming, the way I try to guess the ending of a movie in the first fifteen minutes. I remembered reading that Joshua remained in the tent of meeting after Moses returned to camp. That detail had stayed with me. It made sense to me that he would receive this honor.
I’m reading Joshua 1, and it feels like God is giving Joshua a pep talk before he enters the promised land. I started to cry as I wrote about it. This passage has resonated with me since the first time I read it, and it still reverberates deep within my soul.
God says, “Be strong and courageous.” He repeats this encouragement three times, and I can't help imagining how it must have felt to hear it. At first, maybe it sounded like something that simply needed to be said—Joshua was about to lead his people into the promised land. But with each repetition, I feel the meaning deepen. The words take on a new frequency. I hear a warning in them, and I hear comfort. The land is promised, but courage will still be required. “Be strong and very courageous.”
These words move through their meaning until they land in a way that must have felt like pure love and comfort. What I heard in those words was: This will not be easy. I am going to give this to you, but it will not be easy. You will be scared. You may be downright terrified because, at times, it will seem like the deck is stacked against you… But I am here. I am not going anywhere. This is yours. But you must walk.
You must keep walking.
Every door I open, you walk through. Even when you’re afraid. This is my victory. You walk and keep walking. I’ve got you. We will do this together.
My own pep talk
So I think this introductory essay is my own personal pep talk.
I make it a daily practice to listen for instruction, and I felt instructed to prioritize my website. So I did. I set meetings, put in the time, and built it with my own two hands. Higher Living is ready to go. I’ve written more than two dozen rough drafts I could share, and yet I haven’t published one.
What was stopping me?
It occurred to me yesterday, as I was running, that courage is required to do something new and public-facing. And, let’s be honest, I’m being asked to be vulnerable.
I'm creating space for my voice to grow publicly, even while it's still taking shape.
My walk with God has been nothing short of—well, I won’t lie—a crazy trust exercise.
It reminds me of that scene in Frozen when Anna is climbing the mountain to reach the ice castle Elsa manifested at the top. She barely knows Kristoff, but she jumps back into his arms, asking him to catch her.
Over the past two years, I’ve made major changes in my life as I’ve chosen to walk with God. I’m getting to know Him. I take a step and wait for Him to meet me. We’re building trust. This relationship is new, and that’s where we are.
And just as a side note, I love that Elsa built a staircase up to her castle. She left to be free, but there was still a way for other people to reach her. To me, that feels like leaving a door open. Because while space is freeing, isolation is another thing entirely.
So that’s what this feels like—a crazy trust exercise with God.
It’s just God and me.
My walk with Him goes deeper than I can share here. But all in due time—we’ll get into it.
Putting it into words
But what does this have to do with Food Frequency?
Through Food Frequency, I express my philosophy in the food I prepare for my clients. Higher Living is where I want to put that philosophy into words.
I want to write—to begin formulating my position on nutrition, tissue cleansing, wellness, healing, and now also frequency, which I’m starting to explore as part of that same philosophy. I want to explore how they’re connected and share what I’ve learned through my education and my own experience.
Answering the Call
I'm still getting to know God. I spend my days with Him, and yet there's so much I don't know. I don't know if this desire to write is a calling from Him or a desire in my own heart that I'm bringing before Him. What I do know is that I want to write. And I'm praying He'll guide me and bless what I create. Maybe this first step doesn't require me to have that question answered. Maybe it just asks me to begin honestly.
These essays are my personal reflections, but they stand on the shoulders of thinkers and practitioners who’ve come before me. Many of the doctors, nutritionists, and practitioners whose work I have studied are no longer living. Their writings, research, methods, and recorded results remain available to revisit. Some of that work feels tucked away in the archives. I want to bring it back into conversation, exploring its relevance today alongside what I have learned through my own firsthand experience.
A learned Truth that I am going to share with you.
This has been brewing inside me for the last seven years, and now it's time. It's exciting. It's intimidating. As I prepare to publish my first essay, the words “be strong and courageous” resonate with me once again.
I don't have to wait for the fear to leave before I begin. I can show up as I am, trust, and take the next step.
On the other side of fear
But what if I hold on to fear? What might I miss—and what might I never get to share? Helping people is one of the deepest desires of my heart. What if writing is one way I can do that?
On the other side of fear, I see the possibility of putting that desire into action:
I will help people. I will help people to understand Food – Today – vs food yesterday. To help others to a new relationship with food unlike anything they have ever known.
To bring others into alignment with food could change their lives as it has changed mine.
I also want to share my experiences with what my predecessors called tissue cleansing, and the role those practices have played in my own journey. There will be time to explore those experiences in future essays. For now, this is about finding the courage to begin.
Alignment
I have aligned myself so I can walk with others as they find their own alignment.
Now that God has grounded me, I want to live this alignment out loud. To step forward with others and begin what I have long felt called to do.
To help others come into alignment with Food, Nutrition, Cleansing, and their Highest Frequency.
Will He bless it? He’s blessed me and taken me this far, so I have every reason to believe He’s got me. I just have to trust and keep walking.
It doesn't feel like a crazy trust exercise anymore. It just feels like Trust.
Higher Living
This is me leading the way into Higher Living.
For me, that means choosing the energy of creation over the pull of perfectionism. It is my prayer that putting this out there carries that same energy I want to cultivate in Higher Living.
So, without placing any specific expectations on what’s coming next, I’m going to leave this open intentionally so I can allow my creative juices to grease the wheel as things begin to flow naturally.
This is intentional creation. My hope is that this space carries a steady signal, something that reaches people already tuning toward their own True North and choosing to Live Higher.
And with this… We post.
Be strong and very courageous.
We choose our frequency based on the foods we eat.
When you have a choice, Choose Higher.
